Synopsis:
Welcome To Winter In Whiskey Creek—Home Of The Gold Country! Her name is Cheyenne. But who is she? After growing up in cheap motels, moving from town to town with her sister and mother, Cheyenne Christensen is grateful to be on her own. She’s grateful, too, for the friends she found once her family settled in California. But she’s troubled by the mystery of her earliest memories, most of which feature a smiling blonde woman. A woman who isn’t her mother. Although Cheyenne has repeatedly asked for explanations, the people who could help aren’t talking. Cheyenne is set on finding answers, but without so much as a birth certificate, it won’t be easy. Things get even more complicated when her closest friend is attracted to the man Cheyenne has secretly loved for years. For Eve’s sake, she decides to step aside—which lands her right in the arms of Dylan Amos, oldest and baddest of the hell-raising Amos brothers. He’s the kind of guy she’s sworn to avoid. She can’t afford to make a mistake, not when she finally has a chance to learn who she really is and change her life for the better. But… maybe there’s more to Dylan than she thought. Maybe letting him go would be a bigger mistake.
I have been on a Brenda Novak bender recently, 'buying' her free books on kindle and getting as many as I can from the library. I'm in love with these books. They are really good 'blue collar' romances, and I call them that because they are about everyday people falling in love. Almost everything coming out now is about some billionaire and the heiress or supermodel or (fill in the blank) and you know that means the everyday guy never really gets the light of day.

This is the story of Cheyenne she was a bit of a minor character in another novel and I was curious to read her story.  This is perhaps on of the best books I have read from Brenda (so far), there was mystery, romance and so much going on that I just fell in love.

Poor Cheyenne had a rough childhood and she just wanted a little bit of normal; once they landed here in California, she picks a guy who she believes will give her a normal life, only she's discovered her best friend is in love with him.  Devastated with her decision to allow her friend to go after him unimpeded she makes one rebellious decision she decides to meet and hook up with the town's bad boy Dylan. Only she doesn't want anyone to know because then they would compare her to her mother and that is the worst things for Chey, but she just can't stay away from Dylan.

Dylan stopped caring what the town thought of him years ago, he was left to fend for himself and his siblings, I loved that even though he looked like a bad boy he was all heart, he gave her love and understanding, acceptance and when she needed it a safe place to hide.

At the end I loved the story, the characters and even the town, I felt sad for Chey about her past and what could have been, I do love the conclusion she got and that she finally accepted herself enough to be open to love, I did have a few moments in reading the book where I just went back and forth with liking her and wanting to shake her, but I was hooked at that point so I had to read the book (actually at that point i needed to read and finish and know what happened)
 ★★★★☆
Excuse me while I head back to Whiskey Creek to find more friends and their stories. Highly recommend!!

Synopsis
Twenty-five-year-old Sgt. Gray Phillips is at a crossroads in his life: stay in the Marine Corps or get out and learn to be a civilian? He’s got forty-five days of leave to make up his mind but the people in his life aren’t making the decision any easier. His dad wants him to get out; his grandfather wants him to stay in. And his growing feelings for Sam Anderson are wreaking havoc with his heart…and his mind. He believes relationships get ruined when a Marine goes on deployment. So now he’s got an even harder decision to make: take a chance on Sam or leave love behind and give his all to the Marines.

Twenty-two year old Samantha Anderson lost her husband to an IED in Afghanistan just two months after their vows. Two years later, Sam is full of regrets—that she didn’t move with her husband to Alaska; that she allowed her friends to drift away; that she hasn’t taken many chances in life. Now, she’s met Gray and taking a risk on this Marine could be her one opportunity to feel alive and in love again. But how can she risk her heart on another military man who could share the same tragic fate as her husband?
Excerpt

THIS WAS ONLY TEMPORARY, I reminded myself, as Samantha so sweetly kissed me back. I'm only here for a short time I reminded myself but as I felt her tongue stroke the side of my tongue, as she nipped her teeth against my lip, I wanted to just drown in the sensation. Her scent filled my head and the air around us shrank until all I knew was her small body sitting so close to mine. I moved my hand from her shoulder to cup her neck and angled her face for deeper penetration. I licked every inch inside of her mouth until the taste of her was all that I knew on my tongue.

And all that time I stared in to her green eyes and not once did she look like she was anywhere but right here with me. I saw my reflection there. Her heartbeat was made wild by my kisses.
And temporary was the farthest thing from my mind.

Synopsis:
EVERY MARRIAGE HAS ITS SURPRISES... Gray was beautiful before, four years ago when he asked Isabel to wed him in a marriage of convenience. Now there are no words to describe him. He is no longer a boyish rogue, not by any stretch of the imagination, but a tormented man, driven by secrets, silent about what he’s done since he disappeared. Isabel knew how to handle the reckless youth he’d been, but this new husband of hers... this darkly passionate man is not tamable. Does she dare explore the places inside herself that Gray demands to possess? Does she trust him enough to bare herself completely to a lover who is an irresistible stranger?
Sweet blessed heavens this woman can write!! I have made it my mission to read everything she's written, I just WOW.  So I got this at Books A Million last fall when it was on sale for $3.97 What a bargain!! That I thought I would share with you and I linked it with the BAM bargain bin above. Lets start with amazingly simply and beautiful cover which I love looking at beside all her other books because they match so well.

Now let's get to the story, I read this book all 300 pages in one sitting. I sat down to read and didn't look up until I was done. I was engrossed and loved every minute of reading Sylvia's writing.  The relationship between Gray and Isabel was smoking hot and hella fun to read.  I loved how strong, witty, heart bruised and yet brave Isabel was, how broken and in need Gray was ( I mean with a mother like that who wouldn't be??), and how blind they both were to believe they could live like this and be okay.

I loved how much of a challenge they both were, Gray had no idea what kind of woman he was married to and Isabel ( Pel) was stunned to discover that her real husband was far better than the spoiled young man she once knew. Look I can't even to explain the feels while reading this book, I can't even fan girl properly. I loved the hell out of this book and have gone on to purchase all of Sylvia's books.  I did that because the few books I own and have read from her have been good but this was amazing and engaging and went quickly and just OMG I loved it.  I laughed, my heart broke a little and I was thoroughly turned on by the loving between these two.

Gray of course has his faults and so does Isabel neither are perfect characters they are flawed with their insecurities and issues and they still made you love them.  I enjoyed the Rhys & Abby story as well, the little side stories made this one even more entertaining which is what was done in Seven Years to Sin and I loved it then & I love it now.

I highly recommend this book, it was five steamy stars, for a great plot and smoking hot love scenes and five overall stars as well.

Synopsis:
It should have been an easy mission: employ any means to get the American woman out of the war-torn Central American country -- and tell her nothing. But Blair Morgan was beautiful, and for all his professionalism, special agent Craig Taylor found himself falling for her.Since the assassination of her beloved husband, Blair had been afraid to risk her heart again. Then she met Craig. Brave, generous, physically compelling, he was everything she wanted in a man, and their passionate nights together melted her defenses. Until the order arrived and Blair became Craig's hostage. Suddenly a pawn in a terrorist's political game, Blair struggled to forgive her abductor -- the man to whom she had given her soul. And soon, their journey through a jungle filled with dangerous rebels became a battle of wills between a man of honor and a woman of pride, as they fought to find the shattered remains of a love that left them both longing for more.

I loved reading this book by Heather. I own just about everything she has written and when I heard they were re-issuing her older books and needed reviews?? I was all over it.  Ok I have to say it's so funny to read books from only 10-15 years ago and realize how far we have come as a people, from health changes to communication. One of the reasons you can tell this is an older book is because of the inclusion of smoking, not that smoking doesn't happen but most romances now a days don't include it unless there is someone giving a lecture to a friend or spouse about it.  So it was both unique and great.

Going in I only knew it was by Heather, so I had no real idea what the book was about. I was however pleasantly surprised, and of course loved it. It had it's moments that made me look at the e-reader like wait what, then I remembered that this was before easy access to cellphones and then again in the middle of the jungle doesn't help you get reception too well anyway.  I loved how he worked and even how the assignment came to him. I loved his inner monologue, especially after he realizes how his feelings on Blair have changed.

Craig was a great character, I loved that he wanted to complete the mission but when he met Blair had to re-evaluate the way he went about it.  I really loved Blair, she had her really stubborn moments but she was actually a really good soul.  I mean how many people would have taken the tragedy and made it into something good like she did when she didn't have to??  She was trying her best with a bad situation and although I hated that people didn't trust her to do the sane thing and tried to manage her without her knowledge I believe she handled the fallout well.

That moment on the ship though?? Yeah I'm not sure I would have been able to handle it so gracefully. I totally get why it had to happen that way, but man how you grow up in the epicenter of it and be so clueless as to exactly powerful your dad is?? Or how much danger he daces?? (But then again I watch Scandal and Olivia had no idea y'all no idea). So I guess it's plausible. Even with naivete Blair was a fun characters, she was a whole lot stronger than she thought and certainly didn't allow him to run all over her the way he wanted.  I loved that Blair was making him work for her love, and although she loved him she wasn't willing to let him compromise on his dreams.

They were an extremely fun couple to read and I liked that they fought, made up and challenged each other in the end.
 ★★★★☆
A fun quick read that showcases once again why Heather is one of the best. A fun read for those who love military men and strong stubborn women. Add to your TBR piles when you have some space

Synopsis:
Visiting paradise is supposed to be fun, but Duncan MacNeill is only after a gray werewolf who has stolen his Highland clan’s money. Sexy lone American wolf Shelley Campbell distracts Duncan from his mission and is soon caught in the middle of a Highland wolf showdown...
Y'all already know I'm going to fangirl all over this one don't you?? Y'all know I love me some werewolves, Highlanders, and of course Terry Spear. What's that?? Lookie here; I got all three in one hit. YAAAY!! For this me this book was a hit.  I read it while taking part in the 30 Book Challenge on Youtube and I finished this one in like two days.  I loved reading it, and I was just so enraptured by the scenery because I love the Caribbean and Terry captures the island well and makes it very much a part of the story, of course the fact that I read this during the summer heat only helped.

It was funny, and sexy and it moved pretty quickly.  You got pulled into the story right from the get go; especially because this isn't the first book it's part of the series but you can read it separately.  The few references to other family members are explained and frankly made me more curious to read all the books. ( I've been sporadic with reading this series, picking it up all over the place, I'll get better I swear)

Duncan was my kind of Highlander, he was loyal to his family and hell bent on proving himself, he didn't want other to think he was weaker or less of a man so he did every mission that was considered dangerous.  On his way to capture the wolf who stole from his clan, he sees a female wolf and he feels like he needs to protect her. Never mind that he's turned on by her scent, but he's got a job to do and he's just being responsible and taking care of her for now,  I loved how they met, and from the beginning the chemistry that was between them.  The characters were well written and their conversations and their scenes very engaging and sometimes hilarious.

The story has a bit of romance, a bit of science, a bit of action and a whole lot of them getting to know each other.  They at first fought their attraction because they were both here with a mission and now they have been thrown together they have to learn to work together for the chance to beat their common enemy.  The villain in the story isn't a simpleton so he certainly made them work for it.  I loved that the action didn't all happen off script and that it wasn't too crazy either.

Shelley is witty, sarcastic, fun and keeps Duncan on his toes the whole time., She doesn't back away from a fight easily and she's an asset to Duncan in a way no one else has ever been.  I loved that Shelley's not immediately charmed by the concept that he might have money because of their family's shared past.

The story flowed well, the characters are well written and I'm glad I read the book and of course will be adding it and the rest of the series I'm missing to my shelves. I can't wait to read the other wolves stories that will certainly come from this.

 ★★★★☆
If you love werewolves, witty characters, and a great story, then I highly recommend this story for you.

Marine for Hire reviewed at What’s on the Bookshelf
Guest blogging at Ramblings From This Chick
Book reviewed at Sara’s Organized Chaos
Book reviewed at Bewitching Bibliophile

Holy Hotness Superman, lol *you will get it when you read the book*. I really enjoyed this novel.  This is the first book I have read by this author and I;m going to have to add her to the must read list I mean just wow!!

I especially enjoyed reading this book. Cooper was a well written character who was struggling to accept his own decisions and because of it saw anyone's opinion as a criticism; he had suffered from the war and made decisions based on these 'failures'.  One of these made it possible for him to meet Kayla, I loved that he felt the need to look out for her after seeing how shaken she was about her flight. I mean who doesn't love a Marine whose a Marine even out of uniform??

Kayla is a wonderful character as well, she's usually confident and loves her job. She's content with her life and really hates that her family doesn't get that and keeps asking her about her love life.  She has one, just not one they want to accept.  By accident she makes up a fake boyfriend and when an incident with her mom and a phone happens well, now she needs to come up with a great excuse as to why he didn't come with her to the wedding.

This reminded me of one of my favorite movies, " The Wedding Date", where the character didn't want to appear like there was any failing in their life, while the groom wasn't Kayla's ex, her family was still just as nosy.  And I loved every second of it.  The other characters were just as well written, the plot flew quickly and wasn't over the top. Everything was just really good and pulled you right into the story.

I especially loved everything that happened from the airplane onward, I mean just wow. Cooper and Kayla really hit it off and I enjoyed reading every scene of it.  I give this book four steamy stars for a great plot, and steamy love making scenes with wonderful characters. I also give it overall Five stars, I enjoyed it enough to repeat the experience. I certainly enjoyed it as I read it pretty quickly I just needed to know what happened and of course by the end I was happy.

Synopsis:
He wants her. All of her. NYPD sniper Matt Donovan is in Hell. Instead of driving his best friend’s little sister home from college, he’s stuck with her roommate—a fresh-faced ray-of-sunshine with a body that makes grown men weep. There’s no way he’ll allow himself to taint the little vixen, no matter how hard she tries to tempt him, so he resigns himself to the longest—and hardest—drive of his life. Matt’s obvious attraction suits grad student Lucy Mason just fine. She had no idea her brother’s best friend was so deliciously hot. Knowing he’d never have his wicked way with his buddy’s sister, she lies about her identity and seduces him. But Matt’s no fumbling college boy. His desires run deep—and dark—and he wants to teach Lucy what wicked really means. Matt’s demanding appetites only make Lucy want more. But when her cover’s blown, he’s furious—even as his hunger for her becomes insatiable. Matt can’t trust anyone, least of all himself. And he knows all too well that darkness always destroys the light…
I don't believe I have ever read a book by Tessa Bailey and I'm going to have to remedy that by reading the first four in this series. OMG this book is amazing!! It was raw, raunchy, real, secy, hot and just everything exciting.

The characters are well written, the story flows well, and she bring other characters in without them being obtrusive.  I loved meeting Matt, he was the strong silent type who had some depths and of course a few scars.  A former member of the military he's joined the NYC police department and formed a loose friendship with the three men in his unit.  Because of that friendship he's sent to help out the little sister of his friend and he's just trying to get her home and out of his hair without there being any problems.  Lucy wants desperately to be the good sister and has had to tame the wild child within her, five minutes after meeting Matt she lets the wild child out and boy oh boy do we have so serious fireworks because of it.

From their first moments together in the cafe until the last page, they were engaging. at times witty, at times naughty and many times extremely sexy.  I love the story, the way the characters came together. Matt had such a hard time coming to terms with his attraction to her and when you read it you will see why. I loved him as a character and I even loved his interaction with Lucy.  Lucy is my kinda gal she's done all she needs to do to become a responsible adult and this is the one time she recklessly gambles with her heart.  Her list of things to do in NYC is such a cool list and certainly brings Matt out of his shell. I particularity loved the last thing on her list and the scene that should have been., It was awesome and amazing and I loved every second of reading it.

They were so hot together and I loved the love making scenes. There is a little bit of BDSM within the series and even though it's not hardcore it's not vanilla either. Matt is a really hot man on a mission when he's with Lucy and Lucy just wants some serious fun. They certainly burn up the sheets *when they make it there* and I love that Lucy submits but gives him hell while doing it.
 ★★★★
I highly recommend this book.  I'm going to go get the others in the meantime!!

When his best friends call in a favor, Sam is forced to face an entirely new line of duty—playing nanny for their newly divorced sister and her squirming seven-month-old twin boys. If Sam can dissemble an M16 in his sleep, diaper duty should be a cakewalk…right? Unfortunately, Operation Nanny isn’t quite that simple. Sheridan has sworn off overbearing military men, so Sam must protect her from her dirtbag ex without revealing just how much he has in common with her brothers. Or that he’s been ordered not to touch her. Ever. Problem is, Sheri’s one hell of a gorgeous woman, capable of making this hard-bodied Marine even harder. And Sam wants her bad. Protect the girl. Care for the babies. Hide his identity. And keep his hands off. But even the most disciplined Marine has weaknesses…and Sheridan is one Sam might not be able to resist.

Dear Tawna Fenske,

IF you don't give me Mac and Kelli's story right now. I'm going to..Ok what's a good way to write this threat?? Ummmm never read you again...no that won't work you want the story right....how about a bribe?? I'll give you a five star review...no no that won't work because she's already earned that for this one...Goddamn it nothing left to do but geb...PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MILITARY MEN *see what I did there??* CAN I HAVE MAC AND KELLI'S STORY*sobs and falls dramatically to knees* Wow wow, maybe not to the knees especially not after Sheri and ....wait nope no spoilers.

Ok so I'm going to cut the drama and get to the review.  READ this book if you love, hot military men, funny bumbling men who make the women around them feel loved, cherished and well taken for in ALL ways. Yes including during the fun times.  Sam and Sheri had a good time coming to this relationship, a little bass-ackward but hey can't fault them right.

I loved her sweet little kids, who of course are the reason we're here, neither Sam nor Sherri really knew anything about being parents and were bumbling along.  Sam however is pretending to be a world class nanny; throw in crazy exes, overprotective brothers, two people who are hot for each other, stir in hot locales and sit back and enjoy the funny story that comes out.  Sam was a hilarious character to read because he was out of his depth but refused to back down from the challenge, I loved his extremely unorthodox ways, I cracked up imagining him in the park attempting the baby changing. Just too funny for words.

I really enjoyed reading their story, the writing flowed well, the author clearly did her research, knows her guns and made her characters, fun, likeable, hilarious, human and just all around worthy of reading.  I really got a kick out of Kelli, who is Sheri's best friend, I loved that Sheri knew she wasn't the 'normal' kind of mom, and although she took a little to get there she finally learnt to accept it.

Tawna is a new to me author and I'm going to say that it's not going to stay that way, once this book buying diet is over, I'm going to be all over her like ink on paper *wait, not on her...you know what??!! I'm going to go now.* Enjoy the hot Marine in the story ladies and gents and I'll see you later.

Synopsis:
Katrina and Liam Holland have the perfect marriage, a home in the trendiest part of Baltimore, and a scorching sex life. As another Christmas approaches, there's only one thing still on Kat's wish list: Hunter Croft. But she made peace long ago with his decision to choose the marines over their relationship. Until seeing him again arouses feelings she thought were in the past… Hunter has spent a decade outrunning his attraction to both Kat and Liam. But now that he's stateside, his self-control crumbles when he comes face-to-face with the two people who star in all his favorite fantasies. Their reunion is both erotic and emotional—and has Hunter wondering if three's really a crowd, after all. Liam can't imagine his life without Kat. But he can imagine a future where the three of them live and love under one roof. Liam and Kat have shared their bed with other men, but Hunter is the only one who could ever have a place in their hearts. And this holiday season, Liam intends to make their dream a reality.
Well heck with a title like that how could I not request it?!! Plus it's from Carina Press, I have yet to be disappointed by one of their authors; although these women are new to me, I must get it, the premise sounds awesome.

This was a quick exciting read. One hot marine and the two people who love him as much as he loves them?? Yes please.  The story centers around the fact that they once had a chance to be together and because Hunter ran Liam and Kat moved on together, now Hunter is back and he's decided to have a little holiday fun.  I loved how Liam accomplished this and that it was the one thing everyone wanted but were afraid to go get.

The romances were well written with the struggles of needing, wanting and moving forward written in a way that made the characters real.  I especially loved Hunter, his struggle was bone deep, even though ti was what he wanted. There are many reasons Hunter ran, and the have some deep roots, they both made this a compelling little novella that i wished was longer and gave the characters a bit of depth. I loved Liam and Kat together, they clearly had a good relationship going and evewn though they were happy without Hunter they knew they had the chance to be estacic with him, if only he would stop running from who he was and who they were.

I loved how they flowed together well, nothing felt forced or stilted and I'm glad the authors acknowledged the reality of the ending.

Its' shot and sweet. I give it five steamy stars, for the great plot and wonderfully erotic scenes. I also give it four stars for overall story.

It was hot and grounded in reality, which made me love it even more. I can't wait to see if there is going to be a full novel, because it has the potential to be amazing. It's a great little Christmas romance. I recommend checking it out.
