After finding out about her devastating past, Liam offers to bring her back to life with physical passion. Madison thinks she should be repelled, but she’s intrigued and can’t turn him away. Hello Beloved Readers!

I am Christina Hoffman.

I was born in
England and later hop-scotched across the globe (or, rather, I was exposed to multiple wonderful cultures and adventures!) with my family until we finally settled in the United States.

I have put my suitcase down, for now at least, in blissful
San Francisco.

If that wasn't good fortune enough, I am finally making my dream of writing meaningful romances come true. I love sexy stories with heart, relationships that are sweet and insanely erotic. Enough with the chains and the degradation. I need some romance in my Romance!

I have known so many intelligent and driven men and women who have felt they could be smart OR sexy. Seriously, my when my best girlfriend, who is gorgeous, was in medical school, the women were beautiful. But they didn't know it. Or they suspected they might be, and worked extra hard to cover it up. They had to take on the role of serious grown-up, and acting like sensual beings was practically a career ender.

Okay, well, we can't change the world overnight! But after-hours, we can do what we like with our minds AND our bodies. Why not have some amazing adventures? That's what I write about in my books, and I hope you'll see yourselves in my heroines or my heroes, and know that you, too, are allowed to feel amazing.

Welcome to the world of smart and sexy. I'm so glad you're here!!

I was super excited to read this one, I had seen the book in the local Books a Million and ket telling myself I have way too many books to read before I can pick this one up. Man I'm so glad the publicist sent me a copy. I love it!!!

This story was about love, in it's many guises and shapes. Love of a friend, a lover, and of yourself.  Joss had spent many happy years with her husband but there was a part of herself she gave up exploring because of her husband's past and his beliefs, now that he has passed she has mourned him for three long years and now her heart, mind and body are seeking a little bit of happiness, even if it isn't the same that she had with her soulmate.

Joss gets together with her friends, her husband's sister, and her two best friends to let them know she's once again going to start living and not just existing and it doesn't quite go down the way she wants it.  While I understood her sister in laws' fears, you don't get to say reckless things to me and I'm supposed to take them because of what happened to you in the past.  I'm not going to mourn your brother for the rest of my life and not live it, because you don't want to move on.  It's not fair to me and it isn't fair to your brother's memory because we both know he wouldn't want me to be unhappy.

I love that this was Joss's journey into finding out just what it is she was missing, but also honoring her choices, the ones she made for love and the ones she's making now for her own happiness.  I loved that she had a great marriage and a fulfilled life before, so often these novels can paint marriage as a bad situation to get out of.  She had a great marriage and now she wants something that will be close to it.  Even if it doesn't match it, she's willing to seek out what it is she truly wants, and that makes her so brave.

The friendships she has, their connectedness and how much they love and share makes this such a wonderful journey because a few of them have what she's seeking and they aren't afraid to show it.  I loved the building up of the romance of Joss and her husband's best friend, he tried really hard to let her have her own space, but now he's going after what he's wanted for a long time.  I loved how they discussed everything, making their boundaries firm and knowing more about each other than they had known as friends.  They really had me rooting for them especially when the crisis of the novel comes out.  I loved how witty and sassy Joss could be and that Dash could dish it back without hurting her.  Dash as a character had his moments of awesome and his moments of man you're stupid, but I loved that the awesome generally outweighed the stupid.  Dash had loved Joss from afar for years and when he realized that she's now over her mourning period he was all for being there for her, he however had some misconceptions that get turned on their head on his last night at his favorite spot. I couldn't help but laugh when it came to that scene because he was so unprepared. LOLs all around.

It's a great romance, with a wonderful world created for us to get to know.  Great friends with stories I can't wait to read and explore.  I'm so excited to get to Cessy's story and learn more about the others in the group, and hopefully see more of Joss as we go.

I highly recommend it, and yes, I know the first half was slow, but she was laying the ground work for the series, so if you stick it out the book gets so much better.

Synopsis:
They call us things with teeth. These words from Lily Rose Sullivan the night of her death haunts her seventeen-year-old sister, Finn, who has moved with her widowed father to his hometown of Fair Hollow, New York. After befriending a boy named Christie Hart and his best friend, Sylvie Whitethorn, Finn is invited to a lakeside party where she encounters the alluring Jack Fata, a member of the town's mysterious Fata family. Despite Jack's air of danger and his clever words, Finn learns they have things in common. One day, while unpacking, Finn finds her sister's journal, scrawled with descriptions of creatures that bear a sinister resemblance to Jack's family. Finn dismisses these stories as fiction, but Jack's family has a secret—the Fatas are the children of nothing and night, nomadic beings who have been preying on humanity for centuries—and Jack fears that his friendship with Finn has drawn the attention of the most dangerous members of his family—Reiko Fata and vicious Caliban, otherwise known as the white snake and the crooked dog. Plagued with nightmares about her sister, Finn attempts to discover what happened to Lily Rose and begins to suspect that the Fatas are somehow tied to Lily Rose's untimely death. Drawn to Jack, determined to solve the mystery of her sister's suicide, Finn must navigate a dangerous world where nothing is as it seems.
Beautiful, poetic, and descriptive writing that pulled you in and made you love it.  I picked this up because it was a Tam Lin retelling, I love the heck outta that Scottish tale, and when April over at Good books and Good wine talked about it, I made sure to have it on my list for Book Expo America.  I told everybody I met about the book, then almost missed the book myself. Oops. But I got there in time and begged and the reps pulled the very last one out of the back and I almost kissed her. Yeah that would have been hella awkward, but I needed this book in my life and who has time to wait until release date?? *stomps foot* I want it now *sobs please*. Ok now that those theatrics are over, let's get on to the book shall we??

I loved this book especially because the Fare weren't the good guys, they weren't quaint lovely faeries they were the Fae, the dark and scary things they have always been.  Katherine clearly did her research taking from poetry to the Bard himself (herself that's the question isn't it?? Well for another time) and Yeats, using well documented history, sharing myths, not just from the Celtic Isles but from Africa, from North America and from all of Europe. I loved every second of it!!!

This is so good, the mystery of who and what the Fatas are slowly unravels not just for the character but for us the reader as well.  We know they are Fae but who and which ones, are all revealed or is it really revealed as the story goes on.  The imagery of the town, the people and slow slide into their world is beautiful.  I felt how she felt as she realized she was being pulled in, it was amazing.  You feel the sense of danger, the thrill, the obsession that forms as we get pulled into finding out who these people are and why they are so familiar and strange at the same time.  I loved when jack would tell her ways to get away and she wouldn't listen. Jack was and is a fascinating character, I wanted to learn all about him and could totally understand why Finn was so hooked. He was alluring.   Jack was stuck in a rock and a hard place and I loved this rendition of Tamlin and how he was portrayed.  Jack worked hard at resisting the urge to pull Finn in closer, and yet wanted to get to know her even more.

The imagery, the character development, the classic prose used, all of the unanswered questions, it all pulls you in.  It makes you wonder what does her Jack really know?? Salom?? What's going to happen to the witch and the young knight?? Will peace be upheld?? Who's the new...well that would be a spoiler.. go read it my loves I promise you won't be disappointed.

I will say that I did have moments of calling her stupid because she really had some moments of duh!! Chile your pale humanness against their otherness.,,chile you never even saw the full trick being played.  They are the Fae, you don't win against such ancient trickery, you just gotta hope you survive the rise.  And boy what a ride!!

I still loved it, especially because it was so dark and deadly.  Shout out to April from Good Books and Good Wine for sharing this in her mentions!!

I'm definitely continuing this series, and I almost cried when I realized it was going to be a year form now.  *sobs*.

Guest Post: Adapting Altered From Novel To Screenplay by Audrey Coletti

Aubrey Coletti Website | Facebook | Twitter

Books: Altered Excerpt |  Shattered Excerpt

I recently reviewed the books in the Academy series and it was amazing. Please go check them out.  Here Aubrey shares a little bit of what it's like working on the screenplay for her books.

Adapting Altered : From Novel To Screenplay
One of the responses I got from many people who read Alteredwas that they thought it would make a great screenplay. I could honestly tell those people I was delighted with the idea of Altered as a movie, as movies are my second favorite medium after television. Like many authors, I envisioned scenes and characters in my head cinematically when writing both Altered and Shattered. So when I sat down these past few months to attempt to adapt the screenplay, I was excited to think about how to take the characters and story from book to screen.
Of course, as anyone who has read a book and seen a sub-par movie adaptation can tell you, it is insanely hard to truly capture the best parts of the book and transition them to film. The longest a script is usually “allowed” to be, if it is to be made, is one-hundred and fifty pages — roughly two-and-a-half hours running time. One-hundred-and-twenty pages is considered long, but I knew I would need all one-hundred-fifty if I really wanted Altered to work. My first step was to mark out on notecards what happened in each scene, and set them up sequentially, so that I had a template of exactly what needed to happen to get characters from point A to point B. Once I had the general plan of how the story arc bent, I sat down and got to work writing the scenes.
In some ways, figuring out just what to cut and what to keep was liberating. It allowed me to think in new ways, to strip scenes down to their bare bones and imagine them solely as what the audience would see and hear. In other ways, of course, it was extremely difficult, since you fall in love with certain moments, and realize you don’t have time for them all. There were a few very funny and very beautiful moments I had to cut for time purposes. There were characters who needed to be combined with others or paired down. And, most challenging of all, there were characters whose arcs were so focused on subjective experiences conveyed through prose in the book that I really had to strain myself working to convey those emotions and experiences visually and aurally.
In the end, I just managed to fit it all into my one-hundred-and-fifty page limit. Luckily, I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Since so many books made into movies without input from the authors’ utterly miss the mark (here’s looking at you, Percy Jackson), I felt it really necessary that I make sure I was the one to write Altered’s script. Were it to be optioned, I would insist on being a producer, on having control over the production script, on being a part of casting decisions, and on having final cut over every scene. If these sound like high demands, they certainly are! But I have seen enough bad book-to-movie transitions to know that it is better to never have a movie made at all than to see a terrible film version of a novel come out. But while many movies fall short of the mark, films like The Hunger Games show that great screen versions of novels are possible. I hope if my novels are ever made to films, they join the ranks of those books-made-into-movies that best capture the essence of the story and characters, and are as fun to watch as they were to read!

Aubrey Coletti is a twenty year old author, choreographer, and singer-songwriter originally from Milton, Massachusetts. She began working onAltered when she was fifteen, and completed it at seventeen, during the summer before her senior year of high school. She currently attends Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, and is working on the sequels toAltered.

I can't wait to check them out if they are made into films.  Happy Reading

V=School’s in session at J. Alter Academy, and for Toni, Joseph, Ann, Charlie, and their boarder friends, that means they are still at the mercy of its draconian ways. While suffering the harsh consequences of their attempted escape, the seven teens must also contend with the formidable Headmistress and her taste for human experimentation — with the boarders as her favorite subjects. The seven friends play a delicate, dangerous game as they seek to discover the secrets behind their school and their own unique abilities. Yet as they move closer to uncovering the truth, will one of them be forced to pay the ultimate price?
Wel shyt..Aubrey goddamnit.  Who is the villian in this one?? Neither of them are doing good here. We can see the clear victims and we know who caused the issues, but the original victims have gone full on rogue and it's not clear who is being worse than the other.

I spent all day yesterday with this book. It flew by because I ad gotted used to Aubrey's writing style I was engulfed es[ecially from the prologue. Can I drop kick her?? Why is this even remotely ok??  I wonder if the illustrious headmistress realizes she would fit right in with some of histories favorite as*holes??

I love that this book brings up the quandries about ex;perimenting and let's just point out that it;s not wealthy and affluent  kids that are being experimented on, no it's the "dreggs" the poor kids, troubled kids.  This has some historical connotations and it me hella uncomfortable ( Tuskegee Experiment, the "schools" for Native Americans, the jails in LA, California that just got in trouble for sterilizing inmates?) I'm looking forward to the next one.

Oh good poor Tina, and oh gosh Ann's back stories are just goddamnit, I hate everybody!! I'm not sure hhow I world survive in this place, I just know somebody gotta die and it ain't going to be me (say that in a Kevin Hart voice)

That ending though?? When is the next one?? 'Cause I need to know what happens next??  So yeah go get it it's good!!

Synopsis:
When Toni, Joseph and Charlie arrive at their new boarding school, they are glad to leave their families - and respective problems - behind. Isolated as boarders, they meet a handsome senior with a personality like iced snake's blood, teachers with a penchant for physical punishment, and four other outcasts who reveal that their being brought to the Academy wasn't random at all. When the arrivals discover that their new school is engaged in "behavior modification" through electric shocks, isolation, restraints, and an ever-evolving set of methods to "fix" them, they declare war on their Academy. During their campaign of sabotage, they fight, hate, scorn, love, and begin to uncover the reasons why they were brought to the school. But as their war against the school escalates beyond their control, will they become the very things the Academy believes they are: dangerous, delinquent - and mad?(

Ok WTH did I just read?? No NO I mean that in a good way. This book?!!! Yeah it's both scary and just down right unsettling.  I've read the other reviews where people say it's nurture vs nature. Nope it's simple "every action has a equal and opposite reaction" yeah I went there.

This book was complex, confusing in the beginning because of the amount of characters being introduced and amusing. I laughed because so many of the characters were witty as heck and under appreciated for it.  As the story progressed the development of characters helped to push the story along.  There is a lot of dialogue but this only makes the story better.

I'm still trying to collect my thoughts, for such a small book, it sucked me in, had me yelling at the characters, cussing people out, laughing, whispering "I wish a person would try me.." and sympathizing with both sides because you see each had their valid points.  This book however was excedingly uncomfortable for me as a black woman, because of the things some of the scenarios talked about, the rooms in the school and the concept that people thought it was ok, because well these kids are delinquents and social outcasts anyway.  It's was great read for the social experiment aspect, how far would you go when pushed??

The school and the teachers made me uncomfortable as heck, reading the kids reactions to the rules, was real, raw and totally believeable. Heck I'm a grown woman and I was chaffing at some of the rules and their circular explanations as to why the rules really worked. Like No, that's not how it's going to work today. LOL

I have the second book and I'm already flying through it because I want to know how the students are handling their revenge backfiring, how the teachers are reacting to their loss of control, and finding out what really goes on here at this school. And who really thought all of this could work??  Where are the students who graduated?? Why is no one really aware of what happens here??  God there are so many questions!!! I'm going to go find out.

I recommend you check it out for yourself as well my loves, I'll have my review for the second book tomorrow and the author is guest posting after that so be on the look out!!

Synopsis:
Book Six of Wicked Play Pro hockey player Holden Hauke has kept his sexual needs buried for years. After a near miss over a picture of him bound to a spanking bench resulted in a mid-season trade, he's kept his image clean. But with the season over, he's ready to surrender control. And he's found just the woman to help him—if only he can convince her to give him a chance. Bending men to her will is nothing new for Vanessa Delcour, aka Mistress V—she's a full-time rep for pro athletes, a part-time owner of exclusive sex club The Den, and an experienced Domme. But when Holden Hauke comes looking for a discreet partner, Vanessa's concerned about his motives. Touching his training-toned body during a scene wouldn't exactly be a hardship, but taking him on crosses barriers between work and play that she's had in place for years. From their first intense encounter in Mistress V's playroom, Hauke knows he can't let this chance slip away; he's found the woman he's always needed. Submissive or not, he's willing to push her every limit to prove how good they can be together.
This is the second time I've read a book about a female Domme and I seriously loved it!!  It's usually not my scene *see what I did there?!! Yeah?? Yeah?? Ok I'll stop now LOL* but it's very well written and it totally made me love it.   Even though this is the 6th book in the series, it's written in a way that it can be read as a standalone and you won't be lost.  The twist on the D/s relationship was totally written in a way that drew you in, even if you never really thought about this kind of relationship before.  It made their feelings, reactions, and needs relateable and real.  Vanessa was normally a small character in the other books and when you read this one you will see why, she's hell bent on keeping her worlds separated and her in control.

Vanessa is a complicated character with some serious depth, many hidden layers and several serious reasons for why she's the seriously hot Domme that she is.  While reading this I realized I had never thought of what a female Domme got from her subs ( I mean really it's the same as for a male Dom, but I had never really thought about it) nor had I ever thought about what a male sub would seek *which really isn't that different from a female sub, but different in it's own way*.  Lynda did an excellent job sharing the two perspectives, while introducing a different kind of relationship to us, one in which the accepted norm is reversed for the couple involved.

Reading Holden's perspective was wonderful, he's a great character to read, as he was adamant about his beliefs and wants. Even though he's technically the submissive in the relationship Hauke wasn't a pushover, and he wasn't above letting Vanessa know exactly where he stood on things.  Their relationship was great to read and extremely hot when they got together. Until this book I had never considered being in control but after reading Vanessa's reactions to being the Mistress I can certainly see the allure.

If I had to pick a favorite character I would have to pick a side character, I loved the leads, but I really and truly was enchanted by Liv, she was seriously kick ass. She was always the one in the middle of everything and she became a serious catalyst in pushing Vanessa's worlds together. I loved how she reacted with everything and how close they were as sisters, and it made me love Vanessa even more when I realized how much she hid beneath the surface.

I must say that Lynda can certainly write a Scene, she sets the stage and made it so real that I felt like I was there watching.  The rawness of the reactions, the sense of being pulled in of being drawn into the action and even of finding your space be it sub or Domme was so well written.  I loved the realness of their scenes, and their interactions.  Lynda writes in a way that makes this a true erotica, real, raw, raunchy, but still filled with emotions.  Just amazingly hot.

This book took us on a sweet journey of discovery, of embracing our needs and releasing the past.  I was hurt when certain secrets where revealed, & when the past came back and rattled the cage of the present and future.  I loved reading Vanessa's take on her relationships, her world, and why she needed the control she had.  I loved seeing their relationship bloom and even how they interpreted the rules. It was good to catch up with previous relationships, see how the Den is doing, visit with past relationships and even catch a preview of the next relationship to form.  I'm extremely excited about this book and I hope others will love it as well.  I'm getting the physical collection of all these books when they become available.

The Den is the place to be, not just to play, but to embrace who you are. I can't wait to see more from the Den and be allowed to peek within another relationship.  I highly recommend this series for those new to the genre and for those who have been reading it a while.

Synopsis:
Book five of Wicked Play It's been twenty years since Rockford Fielding's father punished him for kissing another boy. Now a grown man with a military career behind him, Rock continues to deny his true desires, even while working security at The Den, the most decadent sex club in town. But after a year of watching gorgeous Carter Montgomery come and go on the arms of other men, Rock can no longer resist the cravings he's denied for so long. Carter has just four months left on his contract with an escort agency, and he doesn't know whether to feel relieved or afraid. Being an escort is all he knows. Adding to his confusion is the way his latest client, the sexy but stoic Rock, makes him feel things he hasn't wanted in years. One charmingly awkward date turns into two and soon the men are meeting off the clock. But with Rock in the closet and Carter unsure how to pursue a real relationship, how can they build a future both in and out of the bedroom?
I have loved this series since the very beginning, I've only ever disliked one (it was still good, but just not to my personal liking).  This one?? I loved from the beginning until the very last page.  From the beginning of the series, Rock has been a strong silent character who makes a difference in everyone's life but never giving us anything to latch onto, but I loved the description of him anyway and I couldn't wait for his story.

I'm a person who loves to go into my books blind; so I don't normally read the back of books once I know the author or the series,  so I was completely unaware that this was Rock's story and man listen I wasn't ready!!!  I wasn't ready but I'm glad I went in blind, it was absolutely amazing.   I love these books, love Lynda's writing style, I'm super happy and proud that she was being promoted by Carina/Harlequin at BEA

I totally loved Carter, he was such an amazing character, well rounded and had so much going for him, he had plans, goals and an objective and then Rock happened.  In this book the friendships mattered more, the love was a slow build up, the strength displayed in even beginning to see your dreams then embrace it &go after it was amazing to read. I loved that Rock had Rachel, and the Den. Carter was working so hard to just make it to the end of the 3 months, that I just.. omg I loved him.

The love scenes were scorching hot, and well written, and made you feel all kind of hot and bothered. The feelings and emotions that were written into each scene, as Rock learnt more about himself and explored what would truly make him happy, just about broke me. I loved him so much and reading his story made me so emotional.  There is a scene with a camera, the flag and Rock's truth & I wanted to cry. Especially when he makes several decisions that put him front and center instead of just existing in his life. I loved Rock so much at the end of the book and I so wanted a good ending for him.

The tension, the reactions of the Den staff and owners, just about everything felt amazingly real.  I can't wait to own these as physical books because I loved it so much!! I highly recommend the book, and the series, Lynda's writing will pull you into the story and make you be glad you came back to the Den.
 ★★★★1/2☆
Have you read the series?? I highly recommend it my loves, Rock's story is beautiful and I can't wait to read more.  Share in the comments if you have any recommendations

Synopsis:
Quinn Andrews has a lot to learn about the world of BDSM. Once America's sweetheart, she has an opportunity to revive her career by playing a sexual submissive in a highly anticipated new series. Quinn is ready to throw herself into the role, and her hometown's premier sex club, The Den, is the ideal place for a crash course. At first Marcus Reese is reluctant to take on Quinn's erotic education, despite his intense attraction to the stunning starlet. While she fulfills his every command perfectly, she's also a consummate actress—and Marcus is determined to uncover the real woman hidden behind the mask. Quinn's been taking direction all her life, so submitting to a Dom comes easily. But it's not just the most amazing sex she's ever had—Marcus challenges her to define her own needs and make her own decisions. And when her training is over, Quinn will have to choose between continuing to play a part in her own life, or living by her own rules. New to The Den? Go back to the beginning with Bonds of Trust, available now! 88,000 words

This series just keeps getting better and better.  This time we meet one of the new shareholders in the business and it's Master Marcus.  Master Marcus is given the job of helping a child actress embrace a new role in a upcoming BDSM movie (anyone else hearing the The Secretary theme here??)  Quinn is a good girl who can't shake the image she has and is looking for a way to do that with this new role, she's willing to get down and dirty to shake the image even though she's not really comfortable with it, as well she doesn't know much about it.

Quinn's role is that of the submissive and she needs to learn all that a properly trained submissive would know.  Can I just say until this book I never thought about how actors and actresses prepped for these roles?? I loved Maggie Gylenhal in her role in the Secretary but I never stopped before to wonder who the heck taught her or even who is teaching the couple in the new 50SOG movie coming out in the spring..oh gawd I hope it's someone in the lifestyle and they can save this movie from being a joke.

I enjoyed the unfolding of the story of Quinn finding herself as a woman again. She's played so many roles in her life and been recognized only as her character for so long she had begun to fade away because she didn't know who she was anymore.  Even her mother had a hard time seeing her daughter as a woman and not just the actress.  This new role will help her get away from being Missy the character everyone knows an loves and will also help her let go of the past finally.

As Quinn learns the mechanics of being a submissive for her role, she learns more about herself, as she grows more confident in her role it also becomes more clear who Quinn IS.  This of course doesn't come easily, because it's a new situation and both participants have their own preconceived notions of the other's motivations and it takes a bit before the trust is earned and given.

Master Marcus is ecstatic about being offered the new position, this is where he belongs and he's happy to have his life going in a great direction; he's however non too happy to be offered the assignment of being a tutor to a celebrity who might screw up his new flow.  But when given the chance to really teach her Marcus takes on the mission. Once Marcus starts and realizes there is more to Quinn than others have had a chance to see, he's more willing to reach the depths she's hiding from.  As the story progresses Marcus learns more about what kind of Dom he is, what kind of man he wants to be.  Quinn makes him think about his life plan and what he once believed love to be and want he really needs to complete  himself and to truly have it all.

I loved that this book discussed the issues with blending two very different lives and expectations of their lives to make their relationship work.  The two characters had a lot of reasons for reservations but they worked to figure them out. It was amazing to read. So were the fireworks when the two personalities clashed (which led to some amazingly written sexy times).

Holy cow can this woman write a scene that makes you feel like you're right there getting into it with them.  I loved the pacing, the growth of the characters, the way they fought, came together, fought, and eventually learnt how to work together.  I was completely engrossed in the story and wanted to get to the end quickly so I could find out everything that happened and how it was going to end.  I must say I started to panic a little when we were getting close to the end but the story hadn't been resolved yet, I was like nooo... I want my ending. And boy did Ms Aicher deliver.  I'm very happy!!

I have loved this series since the beginning and I can't wait to read the rest.  Go read it people, it's so worth it!!  I like the newer covers as the more conservative reader can take it out without fear of censure however I'm in love with the original cover.
