Synopsis:

Certain individuals might consider Lady Amelia Pembroke a managing sort of female, but truly, most people would be lost without her help. Why, the latest on-dit is that rakish Viscount Sheffield is canceling the fĂȘte of the year because he hasn't time for silly soirees. He doesn't need time—he needs her! When a flash of lightning destroys the venue for his family's annual Christmas ball, Lord Benedict Sheffield intends to enjoy a relaxing holiday for once. But after twelve days of beguiling Lady Amelia's guerrilla tactics, he's up to his cravat with tinsel . . . and tumbling head over heels in love.

I got this on my kindle a few months ago and kept meaning to pick it up. Well I finally decided it was time to read it so I could read the rest of the series. And I actually liked it. This is a first time read from this author and I quite like her writing style and the way she creates a story.

This is the introduction to the dukes of War and in this we meet the sister of oldest of the group. Lady Amelia in modern society would be a party planner and planner addict, she plans everything and has back up plans for her back up plans. This allows her to live a quite life running her brother's household, but now she's turned her mind to being a wife and having a home, a husband and children who will give her adventure because of their unpredictability. She's counting on finding one at the annual Christmas Ball, but this time one thing doesn't go as planned because the party has been cancelled and Ameila can't deal with that.

I loved the story especially because Ben had no idea the storm that was about to hit his life. Lady Amelia was perfect for him, she was witty, strong and stubborn and totally challenged him, both of them were creatures of habit and had become accustomed to their routines, and without realizing it these routines became like prisons.

I loved that the story unfolded slowly and that for both characters, this was something that challenged their world views while making them both happy. I loved Amelia because she was so strong, and stubborn, she knew all along what she wanted and while Ben wasn't on her list she wasn't against going beyond that. I loved them together and her brother was such a good source of humor that i can't wait to see his story unfold as well.

★★★1/2☆☆

Happy Reading
